NOMA Sculpture Garden

LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE

The Sydney & Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden is a five-acre public garden created for the New Orleans Museum of Art in City Park. It was designed in collaboration with Lee Ledbetter Architects of New Orleans. The landscape plan was inspired by Fredrick Law Olmsted’s civic work and comprises a network of walkways, plazas and gardens woven through an existing park landscape of grand live oaks, slash pine trees and recontoured lagoons. The major plantings are designed to create a hierarchy of spaces, serve as lush green backdrops to the sculptures and are complemented by seasonal flowering shrubs and perennials.
